About Me

So, About Me

Hello there, I'm sure we haven't met yet, so let me tell you a bit about me.

I'm the artist behind the name Geljado, and as a person I go by the name Broken Symmetry (Any shortification is ok to me).

I was born 1998 in Germany and lived here ever since. My interest for art sparked in 2013 when I discoverd My Little Pony and the art loving community of it.

Since then I have been making pony content and other "illustrations". But I also do photography, which I started in summer 2018.

About Art

When people are talking about art, some of them forget that it comes down to more than technical skill and how "decorative" it looks. But it is so much more than that.

As an artist, you have to learn to let everything go, and try to convey emotions rather than images. You may or may not have noticed that this is an area where it has been and still is difficult for me to set foot in.

My "old" art was mostly based on technical skill, rather than emotional feelings. And changing that is hard.

What art means to me? A lot. I would even go as far as saying, that I would have died if I wouldn't have taken part in it.

About Ponies

From my standpoint, My Little Pony is a good show, but it has little meaning in my art. Surely, my early pictures and some of the characters I include in to my drawings, are from the show. But while MLP was busy to reach season 9 (it's final season), I was busy to produce more and more personaliced characters and stories.

Ok, to be fair: I never really posted any stories or characters so far. Surely some, but not many.

One question could be, what are ponies for me? Do I define them by how the show presents them? No, ponies for me are what the community started to make of them. They made them silly, funny, playful and snuggly cuddling creatures, with all kind of weird character trades.

Ponies are not a single thing, that can be defined by terms like a "colourful-magic-horse". They have grown in to their own culture and many different ways.

(And they have conquered many different worlds.)

Ok, this is how I define the "Ponies". But why do I draw them?

I draw them because I just love their characteristics and appearance.

Do I only draw them? For the moment, mostly yes. But I work towards drawing other "things" as well.
